 November 2nd
FMLA Participates in the Dia de los Muertos celebration with MECHA. We made crosses for the women in Juarez, and had an informational table about this femicide which has been going on for 1o years without justice for the victims families.
 
  November 4th & 8th
Pay Equity Bakesale! Sold all kinds of treats and made a pretty good profit
 
  November 22nd
Sweatshop Fashion Show! FMLA's biggest event of the semester. Thanks to everyone who participated in the event, there was a great turnout. Hopefully this event hepled raise awareness about the conditions our clothing is made under.

1-19-04:  (Martin Luther King Jr Day) Old members meeting to discuss important events of the spring semester and to plan Club Info Day.
 
1-27-04: Club Info Day
 
2-10-04: First Meeting of the Spring Semester in room SS140, 11AM. Informative meeting with food and drinks for new interested members.
 
2-12-04: Valentines Day Fundraiser / STD awareness event. The event was a success with new members donating their Valentines treats. We handed out free condoms with each purchase.
 
2-19-04: Voter Registration event, information on Democratic candidates. We wrote information about George W. Bush's unfair policies toward women and war on the sidewalk with chalk.
 
3-15-04: Dolores Huerta Speaking at Student Center sponsored by Cerritos College FMLA! Event was VERY successful, the Burnight Theater, which seats 360 people, was packed and we had to turn away people. Congresswoman Linda Sanchez was there to introduce Dolores. Cerritos FMLA met twice a week for a month to plan and organize. Nassrin Bonyadloo, the events chair, worked the hardest to make sure that this event was perfect. Thanks to the other progressive groups Puente and MeCha for helping us out with this enormous event. Flowers by Allan in Norwalk donated exquisitely beautiful floral centerpieces, and Trader Joe's in Cerritos donated food and orchids for the event.
 
3-15-04: The Clothesline Project, 10AM-1PM. We covered a large portion of the campus outside of the Burnight Theater this year. People saw the decorated shirts became aware of domestic abuse, and violence towards women
 
3-23-04: Breast Cancer Awareness Walk 10AM Registration at Falcon Square. Thanks to all the members that participted!
 
April 13 & 15: Snow Cone Sale in Falcon Square 10AM-2PM Last push to raise money for the DC trip! We also had people sign the petition to re-appoint Dolores Huerta to the UC Board of Regents and facts about Emergency Contraception.
 
April 21-25: March for Women's Lives in Washington DC. Cerritos got a lot of media coverage because we were at the very front of the march, and we were also holding the banner for the Feminist Majority Foundation, which was an honor. May 4, 2004: Cinco de Mayo event with MeCha. FMLA focusing on the missing Women of Juarez. Please show up at 10:30AM.
 
May 6, 2004: Potluck! Bring your dish to room LA20 at 11AM! We will also have officer elections for the Fall 2004 semester, show the ERA video, and show footage from Washington DC. Make sure you pick up your ASCC Awards Banquet Tickets by today.
 
May 7, 2004: Awards Banquet 7:00PM at the Student Center. Semi-formal dress.
 
 
We also maintain a yahoo group that people can join, where messages can be posted and sent to members of FMLA.

FMLA Cerritos is not a club, we are a branch of an organization called the Feminist Majority Foundation. Our headquarters is located in Beverly Hills and is headed by Eleanor Smeal and Katherine Spillar.
 
We believe in... FMF promotes equality between women and men and girls and boys (2. safe, legal and accessible abortion, contraception, and family planning (3. achieving civil rights for all people (4. supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights (5.does not permit discrimination on the basis of sex, race, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religion, ethnicity, age, marital status, national origin, or disability (6.we promote non-violence and work to eliminate violence against women (7. we encourage programs directed at the preservation of the environment, clean air and water, the elimination supports workers' collective bargaining, pay equity, and the end of sweatshops.
